Sharpie-Mini 300 Race Recap

Rain and thunderstorms proved to be Kertus Davis’s friend this weekend as the wet weather brought the Sharpie-Mini 300 at Bristol to an early finish. Starting 35th because of owners points, Davis and the team were able to work their way to a season-best 23rd place finishing position.  In addition, the #01 car was also awarded the Featherlite Most Improved Driver of the Race for improving his starting position at the finish by 12 spots.

The Pepsi 300 at Nashville Superspeedway will be up next for the RaceGirl team, where they hope to carry the momentum from Bristol. The race will be broadcast live on ABC at 2 pm EST.

Sam’s Town 300 Race Recap

Kertus and the #01 RaceGirl team were back in action this weekend in Las Vegas for the Sam’s Town 300 Nationwide Series race. Coming off of a strong weekend in California cut short by mechanical issues, the team was looking to make up some ground and put the Johnny Davis Motorsports car into the top 30 in owners points.

Davis put a solid 30th place qualifying effort in place for the Saturday race and made a strong showing for most of the race, being up to 23rd place before mechanical gremlins had Kertus behind the wall before any more damage to the car could be done. “We were really excited to run that well and I think we could have easily had a top 20,” Davis said of the race. “We just had a mechanical issue that started acting up and decided to park the car rather than risk wrecking more equipment.”

Kertus and the team will be looking to rebound next weekend in Atlanta for the Nicorette 300. Fans can catch all the action on ESPN2 at 1:30 p.m. ET this Saturday.
