Camping World 300 Recap

Kertus and the #49 GetMoreVacations.com team kicked off the 2009 season this weekend looking to capitalize on a fresh start at Daytona International Speedway for the NASCAR Nationwide Series opener.  Davis and the team came out of the box strong, posting a 26th place qualifying effort out of 50 entrants, easily locking the team in the field for Saturday’s race.  However, debris would end a potential top-20 finish for the team.

“We felt like we had a decent run going, keeping the car around the top 20,” he said.  “but during one of our runs, some debris knocked off our oil line and put us behind the wall for a few laps.”

The team was able to make the repairs and send the #49 GetMoreVacations.com Chevy back out, ending the race with a 38th place finish.

The #49 team will be back in action next weekend for the Stater Bros. 300 from Auto Club Speedway.  Tune in Saturday to ESPN2 or MRN Radio at 7 p.m. EST to cheer Kertus and the team on!

Davis Cruises to 12th Place

Kertus and the RaceGirl team went into Talladega with a simple gameplan:  keep out of trouble, dodge “The Big One” and put themselves in a position to fight for the best finish of the season.  After running as high as 10th, they accomplished their mission finishing 12th- Kertus’ highest of the season.

“I’m just really proud of the entire team,” Kertus said, “We worked hard and even though we lost the lead pack draft, we still came out with a great finish!”  He continued, “It was also really great to perform well with my friends and family here to watch.”

The #01 team’s finish also propelled them into the top 30 in NASCAR Nationwide Series points, which means that the pressure of qualifying for races is no more- as they are now locked into the show.

Corona Mexico 200 presented by Banamex Recap

The NASCAR Nationwide Series headed south of the border to Mexico City for the Corona Mexico 200 presented by Banamex at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. Kertus Davis and the #01 crew were back in action for the first road course race of the year, looking to ride the momentum of the last few weeks. Starting 33rd, the team took a quick exit when on lap 1 an oil line broke sending Kertus into the wall at well over 140 miles per hour.

“That had to be the hardest hit I ever took,” Kertus said. “We’ll be ok, but I’m planning on taking a couple of days off this week to get ready for Talladega. That’s one of my favorite tracks and we’re really looking forward to a good finish there.”

Keep up with the RaceGirl team on Saturday at 2:30 EST on ABC when Kertus and the rest of the Nationwide Series take the green.

Sharpie-Mini 300 Race Recap

Rain and thunderstorms proved to be Kertus Davis’s friend this weekend as the wet weather brought the Sharpie-Mini 300 at Bristol to an early finish.
